Globe and Thrasher give the skateboarding world a day it won’t soon forget!!!

Greg Lutzka took home $25,000 USD in front of 10,000 skateboarding fans live at the Sydney Opera House at Globe and Thrasher’s Slaughter At The Opera on Saturday afternoon, while 10s of thousands watched at home on the webcast.
Greg was on point all day long and turned it up huge in the finals with two combos, either of which could have won. He threw down a kickflip noseblunt on the 7 stair followed by frontside 270 switch front board on the big 11 stair. He followed that up with fronside 270 noseblunt followed by kickflip front board. The place was going crazy.
Coming in a close second to Lutzka was Adam Dyet who took home $15,000 USD. Dyet kept the pressure on all the way to the end when he finally pulled a nollie cab switch front board on the 7 and kickflip back tail to fakie on the 11.
Ryan DeCenzo took home 3rd place and $5,000 USD on his first trip to Australia. He put up a kickflip backside smith grind on the 7 followed by nollie backside smith on the 11.
Greg, Adam and Ryan weren’t the only ones putting it on the line Saturday. Sean Malto was putting on a clinic with all kinds of tricks on both rails. Ryan Sheckler was throwing down in the qualifying heat as well as the final until he hung up on the big rail and smacked the back of his head forcing him to call it a day. David Gonzalez was hucking his gnarly set of tricks until he landed straight legged on the 11 and jolted his knee.
Nick Dompierre, Jake Duncombe, Darrell Stanton, Braydon Syfranski, Alex Olson, Darryl Angel, Torey Pudwill and a hand full of others all did some amazing tricks but couldn’t get them down in a line. Brian Anderson broke 3 boards in a row forcing him to pull out. Mark Appleyard was also on point all day pulling one of the biggest and most stylish 360 flips on the big 11. He then managed to nollie backside flip it for good measure.
In the end it came down to the battle between Lutzka, Dyet, DeCenzo and Gailea Momolu. Lutzka put down his two amazing combos while Dyet repeatedly attempted his combo and DeCenzo quietly impressed the massive crowd and the judges. Gailea followed them up with nollie big spin back lip on the 7 and switch crook on the 11. Gailea pulled the switch crook right after high fiving Jake Phelps just as he was about to launch in to it. Yeah Phelper!!!
